Multifidus muscles

Multifidus is a group of deep back muscles that along with the semispinalis and rotatores muscles comprises the transversospinalis group. They are short, triangular and the thickest of the transversospinal muscles. The multifidus muscles are found on each side of the vertebral column, extending from the cervical part to the lumbar part of the spine. The muscle group is subdivided based on the regions that they occupy, namely, the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar multifidus.
