Coronary arteries

The heart receives arterial blood supply via the coronary arteries that arise from the root of the ascending aorta. The left and right semilunar cusps of the aortic valve give rise to corresponding left and right coronary arteries. These arteries travel within the visceral layer of the serous pericardium also known as the epicardium. Both coronary arteries divide into smaller branches to supply different parts of the heart
